Background Removal Checklist for Stock Submissions

Check stray pixels, halos, missing subject detail, crop and image size before uploading a background-removed photo to a stock agency.

Removing a background changes an image, but it does not automatically make the result suitable for a stock library. Use a short quality checklist before submission rather than relying on a tool's success message.

Inspect the subject

Zoom in on the silhouette. Check for gray or colored halos, cut-off hair, missing object parts, floating fragments and pixels left in transparent areas. Look inside holes such as cup handles or chair legs, where a mask can leave patches of the old background.

Inspect the file

Compare the output dimensions with the original and verify the expected format. If you need transparency, make sure the alpha channel survived download. For white JPG, inspect the transition from the subject to the white field. Confirm that the composition has useful spacing rather than being cropped too tightly.

The NexTools BG Remover provides edge controls, crop settings and full-resolution export. Use them to correct the specific defect you see. Then check the receiving agency's current technical and content rules. A clean cutout can still be rejected for unrelated reasons such as rights, duplicates or inaccurate metadata, so quality review must cover more than the background.
