A stock vector set feels coherent when buyers can mix its pieces without fighting inconsistent color choices. A palette should support that reuse across icons, illustrations and alternate layouts.
Set color roles before drawing
Choose a background color, a primary object color, an accent and a dark or light outline. Limit the number of colors until the shapes are working. If the set is built from a photo reference, extract swatches using the NexTools Color Palette tool and adjust them for contrast rather than copying every pixel cluster.
Test the system on several assets
Apply the palette to a simple icon, a detailed illustration and a banner. If the accent works only in one composition, change its role or add a controlled alternate. Export an ASE file for vector work or JSON/CSS values for a design system. Keep the same names across files so another designer can see which colors belong together.
The outcome is not a restriction on creativity. It is a reusable visual grammar that makes a collection easier to recognize, expand and edit without recoloring every file from scratch.
