An 8-bit-inspired background depends on limited colors and deliberate pixel structure. Dithering can create depth without replacing the retro style with a smooth modern gradient.
Pick a scene and palette
Choose a cloud, wave or gradient pattern in the NexTools Dither Generator. Limit the colors and use a visible pixel size. For example, a blue-to-lilac sky with two cloud tones can feel coherent, while too many intermediate colors weaken the pixel-art effect.
Design for text placement
Leave an area with low visual detail for a headline or UI panel. View the background at its intended size and at thumbnail size. If individual pixels merge into noise, increase their scale or simplify the palette. Export the format appropriate to the design workflow and inspect the downloaded file.
If selling a stock background, provide an honest preview of the actual asset and avoid implying it was hand-drawn pixel art if it was generated from a pattern tool.
